Juniors push KJHL final to Game 6

Dray Flett made 14 of his 36 saves in the third period and Quinton Flett recorded three goals and an assist as the Peguis Juniors staved off elimination with a 6-5 victory over the host Cross Lake Islanders in  Game 5 of the Keystone Junior Hockey League championship series on April 7.

Cross Lake leads the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Sundance Paul and Evan Thickfoot both tallied a pair of helpers for the Juniors, while Tyrome Spence-Blair had one marker and two helpers. Wyatt Bear and Shaydon Mousseau also scored for Peguis, which went 1-for-8 on the power play.

Quinton Scatch, Drayden Garrick, Clinton Armstrong, Armando Evans and Garrison Garrioch replied with goals for the Islanders, who converted two of their six man advantages. Seth Ningeongan stopped 42 shots between the pipes for Cross Lake.

Garrioch, Scatch, Jerome Linklater and Damian Anderson were among the goal scorers for the Islanders in an 8-2 Game 4 win over the visiting Juniors on April 6. Paul had one of the two Peguis goals.

In Game 3 on April 5, the Islanders scored three goals in a span of 5:48 in the front half of the third period as they rallied for a 5-4 victory on home ice.

Bear, Keenan McPherson, Coulson Nepinak and Lyle Murdock dented the twine for Peguis, which went 0-for-3 on the power play and allowed a short-handed goal to Scatch.

Garrioch and Scatch both tallied two markers, with Monias also lighting the lamp for Cross Lake, which went 1-for-4 with the man advantage. Dray Flett made 44 saves and Ningeongan turned aside 45 shots.

The Peguis Multiplex will play host to Game 6 on April 12 at 8 p.m. If necessary, Game 7 will take place in Cross Lake on April 14 at the same time.
