The sun is out and school has wrapped up, so it’s time for summer vacation! Whether you’re heading somewhere far away or having a staycation this summer, be sure to check out one of the vacation-themed books below to keep yourself entertained. All books are available through GPPL!

The Last Resort by Marissa Stapley

Struggling couples Johanna and Ben and Shell and Colin travel to the Harmony Resort to repair their relationships. Run by celebrity power couple Drs. Miles and and Grace Markell, Harmony Resort gives couples a second chance to save their relationships in luxurious lodgings on the Mayan Riviera. However, it soon becomes apparent that everything is not as it seems at the Harmony Resort. A lethal tropical storm rolls in, trapping the guests, and as secrets are revealed, nothing will be the same.

Secrets in Summer by Nancy Thayer

This beachy read is about 30-year-old Darcy Cotterill, a librarian that spends all year living in a picturesque beach house on Nantucket Island. Settling in for an uneventful summer, Darcy is surprised to see her ex-husband, along with his wife and step-daughter, renting the home next door. This, along with her blooming romance with local carpenter Nash Forrester, and a handsome new stranger in town, results in Darcy’s summer not being quite as boring as she had planned.

An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

Cool off with this chilling thriller by Canadian author, Shari Lapena. Set in upstate New York, An Unwanted Guest takes place at Michael’s Inn, a small remote lodge nestled deep in the woods. The guests are expecting a weekend of rest and relaxation, but a blizzard – and a murder – results in a change of plans. Instead of snowshoeing and sipping cocoa, the guests must work together to stay warm and survive with a killer among them.

Lands of Lost Borders: Out of Bounds on the Silk Road by Kate Harris

Ontario-born Kate Harris grew up dreaming of becoming an explorer, spending her time going on exciting adventures all over the world. She settled for becoming a scientist with aspirations of going to Mars. One day, while working in the lab, Kate decides to bike the fabled and historic Silk Road with her best friend Mel. Blending history and literature with adventure and reflection, Lands of Lost Borders is a touching travel memoir for those with wanderlust in their hearts.

Road Trip with Max and His Mom by Linda Urban

Third-grader Max is heading off on a road trip with Mom! However, Max is used to spending his weekends with Dad, and is a little worried about leaving Dad behind. Join Max as he works through his fears, processes his feelings and enjoys himself greatly at his Great-Great Aunt Victory’s 100th birthday party at an amusement park!
