The Town of Arborg is depending on the support of Interlake residents if it wants to host a country music concert on May 18.

On April 6, Dauphin’s Countryfest announced that Arborg is one of seven finalists for the Our Birthday, Your Party online contest. In celebration of the festival’s 30th year,  Countryfest will select one Manitoba small town to host a concert performed by Canadian country stars Charlie Major and George Canyon.

Major is a three-time Juno Award winner for Male Country Vocalist of The Year and his first nine singles all reached the top of the Canadian Country chart.

After finishing runner-up on the reality TV show Nashville Star in 2004, Canyon has gone on to win two Juno Awards and has had 24 singles on the Canadian Country chart.

Other communities named finalists include Boissevain, Hamiota, The Pas, Grandview, Oakbank and Oakville.

Voting started on April 8 at 9 a.m. and closes on April 12 at 11:59 p.m. To vote, log on to visit: ourbirthdayyourparty.ca.
