Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority will host its sixth annual general meeting on Oct. 1.

The AGM will outline achievements and challenges in regional health care over the past year, as well as its future goals.

This year’s proceedings will include a special health care transformation panel featuring Dr. Brock Wright, Shared Health Manitoba’s CEO and provincial lead on health services. Dr. Wright will speak to milestones in the first year of Shared Health, the health organization responsible for building an accessible and integrated health system.

Among Shared Health’s responsibilities is the creation of a provincial clinical and preventive services plan that will direct health care service delivery. This planned integration of health services across the province will provide more consistent standards of care and reliable access to care.

Interlake-Eastern RHA’s CEO, Ron Van Denakker, will contribute a regional perspective to the panel discussion, identifying Interlake-Eastern’s contributions to health planning and the anticipated benefits that healthcare transformation is bringing to regional residents.

Also on the agenda for the evening are reviews on the past year’s activities from Interlake-Eastern RHA’s Board of Directors and CEO. Interlake-Eastern staff members selected for the Chair’s Award for Excellence in Customer Service will be recognized along with a community member selected for the CEO’s Community Leadership Award.

The venue for Interlake-Eastern RHA’s AGM rotates among communities within the region. This year, the meeting is being held in the City of Selkirk’s recreation complex at 180 Easton Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  All are welcome to attend.
