The federal government announced its support of the one-megawatt solar project through the Western Diversification Program to residents on March 13. Many homes, businesses and the new high school are intending to make use of the solar energy project, Chief David Crate told The Interlake Spectator at the time.

Approximately six acres of land and nearly 3,000 three-by-five-foot solar panels are being dedicated to generating one million watts in the community, according to David Isaac of W Dusk Energy Group. The one-megawatt project is expected to generate enough energy to power approximately 350 homes, he said.
